Kuja,
I am not into Freudian psychoanalysis but am using the concept of Ego and Id loosely in modeling personality and as a sideline in modeling psychosis, which may be interesting to Jennifer Kanary.
I wrote a patented PC software called George and Mary (GaM) where the two simulated personalities are made of four dynamic dimensions and exchange sentences, with each exchange the motivational (emotional) states changes.
The two simple personalities structure could be made to act as one complex personality; when one plays the ego and the other plays the id, or the memory of "the model of the world" where all personalities (known) to the ego are represented with different repertoires. I like to describe it as the artificial imagination, it could be particularly useful in modeling psychosis and/or neurosis.
Such a complex personality could model psychpathologies, for example Schizophrenia could be simulated in part by making the artificial imagination hyper active while stifling communication with the outside world.
The ego which normally has only one repertoire could be made to have multiple, simulating split personality syndrom.
Autism's telltale symptom is having no empathy or imagination of the others and how they feel, this could be modeled by suppressing the activity of the artificial imagination.
GaM does not simulate psychosis yet but if there is anyone who would like a demo or discussion then please let me know, I will bring my laptop for this purpose.

Dear Peter,

I should have thought of you and apologise for not doing so, though you should also have received information from one of the many mailing lists we sent stuff to.

It's not too late to join us, if you like. Just send a message to secretary@asc-cybernetics.org. The same goes for anyone reading this blog who wishes to join in.

Dear Michael, I am expecting higher quality pictures of say 1000px along one edge or even bigger. Uploading via your profile page or emailing to secretary@asc-cybernetics.org will work. I will take care of scaling, cropping, rotating, contrast etc. Thank you!

Profile pictures.
I just made a few changes to my profile after seeing how info is structured on the 'participant' page. It looks as if, accessed from the 'participant' page, only pictures display that are sized 470x254.
Do you recommend to resize our profile image? Or can you tweak it server-side?

I'd like to make a point or two about the blog, and then to respond to some of the points above.

GENERAL

One purpose of the blog is that we can meet each other in advance of the conference. So it is possible to hold free-rang, wide roaming discussions.

From my point of view, an important matter is that we can ask for opinions on how to deal with various matters: there are things we have to organise which need attention and which may be much better arranged in ways you suggest rather than in ways the organising committee can think of.

Another point is that it allows you to ask questions. We (the organising committee) will try to answer where relevant. Other questions may be better answered by the whole group of conferees.

We have made a list of conferees, and are just checking it out finally. It will like to the database where you made your Statement of Interest, etc: so if you edit your records they will appear in updated form. This will also provide a way for you to submit your paper draft: up to 20,000 characters, otherwise open review will become very difficult. Anyhow, final papers are supposed to be 3000 words long (and to fit the formatting, not necessary in the draft, used by Kybernetes).

We are going to use the material in your profile, along with your paper abstract, to create the conference book which will be available as a pdf.

SPECIFIC

Now to the points above:

Burl's point has been covered by Tom Fischer, our tireless webmaster (and site designer) and by me. As to Kuja's point, I think this can come into the discussions in Troy. I'm sorry we missed Peter Jones (as we indeed missed several people who should have been part of this).

Yes, we are working on this right now. You can already see a preliminary list of participants under People/Participants (after you are logged in here). The list is linked to C:ADM2010 participants' short bios, Statements of Interest and paper proposals.

When participants are listed, will we be able to read all their statements of interests?
Perhaps that could serve as a significant reference point for conversations, obviating lots of possible divergence.

Dear folks,
I'm a Brazilian writer and I'm interested in the intersections between cybernetics and psychoanalysis (yes, I know, it is a problematic relationship, but I liked it :)
Cheers!
